The Lake

The new lake is complete and handed over to Wirral Council on 18 August 2010. There is still some landscaping to do, seating to install and the flagpole to erect. However it is now available for public use. (Click on images for larger version)

Lake from East Lake from West

The new boating lake is situated on the New Brighton promenade (see map), slightly west of where the old one was. There is car parking adjacent to the site (23 bays + 3 disabled bays, but because there are often a large number of people there is further car parking to the west of the lake on the seaward side of King's Parade. This car park is not complete, but there is plenty of car parking elsewhere on the Promenade.

The club has regular sailing on each Sunday throughout the season. Special events are listed on the meetings page. Please come along and talk to us and find out more about the club and its activities. Newcomers to model ship making are especially welcome.

Why A New Lake?

This is because the Wirral Council is carrying out a £60m re-developent of the whole of the New Brighton sea front. The developers, Neptune Development, included a new boating lake in their plans (below). Although work on the new lake infrastruture is almost finished the complete re-development will continue for some time to come.
